  • 1. Are Chamber members all large well-established companies?
    The Fort Nelson & District Chamber of Commerce has a membership of approximately 210. These members cover a wide variety of businesses ranging from large companies to home based businesses.

    2. Why should I become a Chamber Member?
    Your Chamber of Commerce represents the community and its businesses - tirelessly promoting your products and services and protecting your interests. The unified voice of the Fort Nelson & District Chamber of Commerce has proven to be effective and beneficial to businesses and residents of our community.

    We have many ways to help promote your business and keep you in touch with the business community. Your membership in the Chamber also offers you further benefits through our membership with the BC Chamber of Commerce, such as Group Insurance Benefits, Visa/MasterCard/Interac Programs, Shell Fleet, Petro-Canada and Mohawk Discount Gasoline Programs, and many more!

    3. How much does it cost to become a member?
    There are a variety of dues schedules for Chamber Membership, all of which depend on the type of business (non-profit vs profit) and the size of a firm. The size of a company is reflected by the number of permanent/full time employees. Please refer to our Membership Application form for further information.

    4. How can I take advantage of the Chamber's Membership Benefits?
    To take advantage of the many benefits offered by the Chamber, simply ensure that your company has an active membership. If you have any questions regarding your Membership status or if you would like to take advantage of further Chamber benefits, please contact a Chamber representative.

    5. How can I use the Chamber for establishing business leads & contacts?
    You can expand your business network simply by attending Chamber events. The networking events we establish provide you with the opportunity to develop business relationships with individuals and companies that may require your products or services.

    7. How can I stay informed on what's happening at the Chamber?
    The Chamber uses a wide variety of medium to ensure that our members are up to date on the many issues concerning business and the community. The Chamber utilizes email, facsimile, newsletters, website and RSS feeds.

    8. How can I assist with the development of Chamber activities and programs?
    The Chamber has numerous planning committees that help create our various activities and programs. You can contribute to these committees by becoming a member or a committee chair. The committee chair position is usually reserved for someone that has some expertise or experience with the issues at hand.

    9. Can I contribute to Chamber policies and agenda?
    The Chamber created an Advocacy Process in order to ensure that we act as the 'Voice of Business' for our community. This process commences by submitting a letter to a Chamber representative stating your position on the subject affecting you. This letter will then go before the next Board meeting, and from there an appropriate course of action will be determined.

    Moreover, our Advocacy Process assures that the concerns of your business are supported by the strength of 210+ Chamber Members.

    10. How do I update my Chamber Listing?
    To update your Chamber listing, please login to the members section of the website and upload your changes.

    11. If my company is a member, am I also a member?
    If your company belongs to the Chamber then you and all the other employees of the firm's local branch/offices are considered Chamber members.
