News Release: BC 2020 Budget Consultations

The Select Standing Committee on Finance and Government Services would like to invite the public to participate in the Budget 2020 consultation. This annual consultation is taking place in June this year. British Columbians can share their input, experiences and recommendations by speaking with the Committee at a public hearing (in-person or via teleconference), by making a written, audio or video submission, or by completing an online survey.
 
The Committee will be holding public hearings in 15 communities between June 10 and 21: Colwood, Kimberley, Castlegar, Kelowna, Kamloops, Courtenay, Qualicum Beach, Vancouver, Prince Rupert, Kitimat, Prince George, Fort St. John, Quesnel, Abbotsford and Surrey.

Online registration to reserve a speaking time will open on Monday, May 27 at 9:00 am on the Committee’s website: https://bcleg.ca/FGSbudget. Teleconference opportunities are available by calling 250-356-2933 or 1-877-428-8337 (toll-free in BC). Speaking times will be 10 minutes – 5 minutes for your presentation and 5 minutes for questions from Committee Members.
 
In accordance with the Legislative Assembly’s commitment to accessibility, public hearings take place in accessible settings. If you have additional requirements, including the need for interpretive services, please email FinanceCommittee@leg.bc.ca. We will make every effort to meet any additional accessibility requirements to support your presentation to the Committee.
 
The opportunity to make a written, audio or video submission, or fill out the outline survey will be available on June 3, 2019, in conjunction with the release of the budget consultation paper.
 
The deadline for all input is Friday, June 28 at 5:00 p.m.
 
The Committee will consider all input and make recommendations to the Legislative Assembly in a report which they intend to release in late July/early August.
 
We kindly ask that you share this information with other British Columbians who may have an interest in the consultation.
