The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has revamped its payroll webpages to help employers find the information they need to meet their payroll obligations.
By visiting canada.ca/payroll, employers can easily access payroll tax information in one place. Keeping the needs of employers in mind, these updated webpages cover key topics that employers can use to manage their payroll.
As part of this refresh, the following canada.ca webpages were updated:- Open or manage a payroll account
- Set up and manage employee payroll information
- Calculate payroll deductions and contributions
- Remit (pay) payroll deductions and contributions
- File payroll information returns (slips and summaries)
- Determine if a benefit is taxable: This tool can help users identify taxable benefits. Users can also find out whether to deduct Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Employment Insurance (EI), and income tax from employee payrolls.
- Determine the tax treatment of payments other than regular employment income: With this template, users can learn about the special payroll rules that apply to different types of employment and renumeration.
- How to calculate payroll: This webpage lists specialized calculators to help business owners manage their employees’ payroll deductions.
- Determine the province of employment: An employee’s province or territory of employment (POE) affects which deductions apply to their payroll accounts. Learn more about POEs by checking out this updated webpage.
