Fort Nelson, BC, September 6, 2023 – On behalf of the Fort Nelson & District Chamber of Commerce we would like to extend our gratitude to Judith Kenyon and all the staff over the years at the Fort Nelson News. 
 
Ma Murray started the Fort Nelson News in October of 1959 and Bob Angus purchased the paper in April of 1960.   Judith Kenyon became the owner and editor of the Fort Nelson News in 1974.  For almost 49 years Judith and the staff at the Fort Nelson News has shared our joys and sorrows, bringing us information and celebrating the many community organizations and activities.
 
They have supported our youth through first jobs with newspaper routes, provided topics for discussion during coffee, provided us a voice through letters to the editor, brightened our day with local event coverage and sometimes brought us news of shared losses.  Community papers are connected to each of us providing not just information relevant today but a connection to our history and to each other.  The Fort Nelson News was uniquely our own - local journalism - focused here.
 
Judith - we are grateful for the years of service you and your staff have given to the community.  We are going to miss the knock on the door Wednesday nights.  On behalf of the Fort Nelson & District Chamber of Commerce - Thank you!
