The Canada Revenue Agency has released the following information:

Your association or organization has been identified as a key stakeholder of the
    Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
We hope you will share the following information with your membership.

    Did you know?

If you don’t file your GST/HST returns, your tax refund will be placed on hold.

The Canada Revenue Agency will place a hold on your personal income tax refund if you own or operate a sole proprietorship or partnership and you have not filed your goods and services tax/harmonized sales tax (GST/HST) returns. If you have a GST/HST account, you must file a GST/HST return, even if you have no income or GST/HST to report. Try filing online – it’s fast and convenient!

How do you get a hold on your personal tax refund removed?

If your income tax refund is being held because you did not file your GST/HST returns, simply file your return(s) and the hold will be removed.

To find out more about GST/HST accounts, such as how to register an account, collect, file and remit the GST/HST, go to Canada.ca/gst-hst.
