The Fort Nelson Chamber of Commerce is seeking a community-minded Executive Director to lead the organization and support local business success.
Company Description
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director provides strategic leadership, manages daily operations, oversees the Visitor Centre and retail services, supervises staff, supports membership growth, leads events and advocacy initiatives, and manages financial operations.
Responsibilities include developing and implementing policies, engaging with the business community, driving membership growth, representing the Chamber in public forums, and managing budgets and financial operations. The individual will act as the primary liaison between the Chamber, its members, and stakeholders, while fostering partnerships and advocating for the economic development of the community.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in executive leadership roles within non-profit or similar organizations.
- Demonstrated success in business development and strategic planning.
- Strong financial management capabilities, including budgeting and resource allocation
- Proficiency in public speaking, communication, and stakeholder relations
- Knowledge of economic development principles, and experience in advocacy and community engagement
- Proven ability to build partnerships and foster collaboration with diverse groups
- Knowledge of rural or northern communities is an asset
Working Conditions
- Minimum 37.5 hours per week (flexibility may be considered)
- Occasional evening and weekend commitments
