    If you currently have employees laid off and don’t expect to recall them before August 30th, 2020 you are required to file a variance application with Labour Standards Branch by August 25th, 2020 or you could face severance payment requirements
     
    “Without a variance:
    •employer-employee relationship is severed if employer doesn’t recall employees on temporary layoff before August 30th. 
    •eligible employees may be entitled to compensation for length of service under the Employment Standards Act”
